Vision & Leadership to Restore our Country
Peter Chatzky is the kind of Democrat we need in Congress: he’s taken on Trump and won, and he’s wrangled the votes to actually build new housing here in Westchester.
Peter is the only candidate who is a life-long Westchester Democrat, who has run a business for decades, who has been elected to public office five times.
Peter is focused on results. He’s not afraid to fight to build a better America. Let’s send him to Washington.
Peter has served as both Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Village of Briarcliff Manor, while running a small tech company providing software to the world’s largest banks.
Peter’s first involvement with local politics came as he battled Donald Trump’s original plans for the Trump National golf course that would have destroyed Briarcliff Manor as he knew it. Despite Trump’s claim that his layout was “the best, most beautiful, most perfect use of the space,” Peter organized his neighbors and stopped Trump and his army of lawyers from steamrolling the village.
But Peter was just getting started. First elected as Mayor in 2003, Peter has won campaigns for public office five times.
As an elected official, Peter has drafted and enacted over 70 local laws — ranging from tax relief for veterans, firefighters, and low-income homeowners, to incentives for clean energy, environmental protection, improved quality of life, and expanded housing. He helped establish the Briarcliff Manor Local Development Corporation, a public/private partnership where he serves as Vice Chairman.
A lifelong Westchester Democrat, Peter has deep roots in civic life, from coaching youth soccer and fostering shelter animals to supporting local education, libraries, historic preservation, and inclusivity. He created the first Pride Celebration ever held in the Village.
Along with his wife Susan, he is a longtime supporter of Rockland Pride, Planned Parenthood, and Rockland’s Center for Safety and Change – each of which Susan has served as a member of the board of directors – as well as the SPCA and Westchester Humane Society.
Peter and Susan have raised four children, each of whom are now living with spouses or partners in four different states. He and his wife are hoping to become grandparents soon, if any of the kids are reading this. They have also fostered countless kittens and rescue dogs, including three pure American mutts – Charlie, Leo, and Stella – who decided they did not want to be placed in any other home.

Priorities
The System is Broken. We’re Not Waiting to Fix It.
We’re up against a corrupted government, a politicized court, and a party trying to erase what makes America strong. We won’t sit back. We fight forward.
Make Life More Affordable.
Create more housing options so families can afford to stay in the Lower Hudson Valley.
Bring down skyrocketing utility bills and energy costs.
Crack down on corporate price gouging, especially at our grocery stores.
Take on Big Pharma to lower the cost of prescription drugs.
Care Is a Right, Not a Privilege.
Expand healthcare, childcare, eldercare – it’s for our future.
Universal health insurance.
Restore Medicaid, expand SNAP, fund nutrition and preventative care.
Universal pre-K.
Bolster eldercare. It’s as critical as childcare.
Clean Up Corruption, Restore Trust.
Government should work for people—not for profit.
We’ll change that:
Ban lawmakers from trading stocks. No blind trust loopholes. No excuses.
Expose and end dark money.
Investigate and prosecute corrupt politicians—no more slaps on the wrist.
Supreme Court Reform—Now.
The Supreme Court has gone rogue. Justices play politics with zero accountability.
Enforce a real, binding code of ethics.
Set term or age limits—lifetime power was never the plan.
Pass real anti-gerrymandering laws, national early voting, and paid time off to vote.
Rebalance the branches and end unchecked presidential power.
End the War on Our Neighborhoods.
This country was built by immigrants—and we’re not going to let ICE terrorize our neighborhoods.
No more raids on homes, schools, or churches.
No more detention camps.
Unmask federal agents.
Create a real path to citizenship, now.
Embrace What Makes Us Different.
America’s strength is its diversity.
Value Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity.
Enshrine voting rights and civil rights protections into federal law.
Defend free speech—including your right to protest injustice.
Make Democrats Proud Again.
Government shouldn’t gaslight you.
Restore science, data, and facts to public agencies.
Protect journalists from censorship, intimidation, and corporate monopolies.
End culture war distractions—no more banning words or renaming oceans.
Invest in Our Future.
Let’s leave our kids something better.
Expand renewable energy, fix the grid, and modernize infrastructure.
End public subsidies for private or religious schools.
Fund job training just as we fund college loans.
Fix the Fed’s Broken Budget.
Stop punishing blue states for doing the right thing.
End the SALT cap.
Cut off the freeloaders: no more endless subsidies for states taking more than they pay (except in natural disasters).
Set a real living wage, indexed to inflation.
And the Obvious.
Protect Social Security. No privatization.
Reproductive freedom is non-negotiable.
Fight hate crimes with stronger federal protections for race, religion, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
Crush union-busting “right-to-work” scams.
Defend Ukraine, Israel, and the global right to self‑determination, but insist our allies reflect our own values of humanity even during times of war.
This isn’t just a platform. It’s a call to fix what’s been broken—and build something better. For all of us.
