Chatzky’s “Real People. Real Endorsements.” Highlights Support From Community Leaders rather than Party Insiders

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY - Peter Chatzky, Democratic Congressional Candidate for NY-17, announced his first slate of local endorsements today at the heels of a new poll, and as part of his “Real People. Real Endorsements.” initiative. Today’s endorsements come from a wide range of voices across the district, including current and former elected officials, community advocates, and religious leaders, all of whom have worked directly with Peter and have seen his effective leadership first hand. Rather than focusing on traditional party insiders, Chatzky is bringing his campaign directly to the people and building real grassroots support, as evidenced by the community leaders endorsing him today.

Those endorsing Peter Chatzky for Congress today include:

  • Steven Vescio - Mayor of Briarcliff Manor
  • Keith Austin - Former Mayor of Briarcliff Manor
  • Malcolm Netburn - Former Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Planning Board, Pleasantville
  • Rhea Mallett - Trustee, Briarcliff Manor
  • Kevin Hunt - Trustee, Briarcliff Manor, 1st Lieutenant, BMFD Ambulance Corps
  • Steven Kavee - Chairman, Town of Mount Pleasant Conservation Advisory Council
  • Joshua Subin - Former Vice Chair, Cortland Democratic Committee
  • Rev. Todd Farnsworth - Community Advocate and Pastor, Briarcliff Congregational Church
  • Rev. Kevin Veitinger - Community Advocate
  • Cary Adwar - Village of Suffern Zoning Board of Appeals Member
  • Laura Mogil - Former Chair of the Board of Directors, Open Door Foundation

Peter Chatzky, Democratic Candidate for Congress, said: “I am thankful to have the support of so many local community leaders from across NY-17. Our campaign is about giving a voice to the people, not the party elites, which is why the first endorsements I am announcing are all from real people who have been with me in the fight to make our district more affordable, root out government corruption, and stand up to Donald Trump and Mike Lawler’s attacks on the rule of law. It’s an honor that so many people who I have worked with, who have seen my leadership up close, have come out to support me. I look forward to working with them all to flip NY-17 blue and take back the House.”

Keith Austin, Former Mayor of Briarcliff Manor, said: “Peter as a founder and owner of a software company has a good appreciation of business skills, of cost controls, management skills, treating people properly, and he has a good understanding of what government can do to help or hinder business. He has exemplary communication skills, he engages people, he listens to people, he's a good consensus builder. So, I think he's the full package of what's needed to be successful in Congress.”

Rev. Kevin Veitinger said: “I'll be honest, I usually don't like politicians, but Peter's different. When I spoke out years ago in the village about a policy that I felt was unjust, Peter didn't just ignore me. He reached out, invited me to talk, and he listened, and eventually the policy changed. That kind of leadership is rare. I've seen firsthand how he brings people together. Not by bland compromise, but by actually winning people over. It's a gift, and it's exactly what we need in the broken halls of Congress."

Kevin Hunt, Trustee, Briarcliff Manor, & 1st Lieutenant, BMFD Ambulance Corps,

said: “I’ve marveled at the number of gifts Peter has. He has a way of being able to reach out to constituents who are clearly unhappy, and give them a solution to their problems. I look forward to voting for him to be our representative in Congress."
