Peter Chatzky, Congressional Candidate in NY-17, calls for Universal Healthcare and rips Congressman Lawler on his five-figure ad campaign that ignores the impact of the Big Beautiful Bill on Medicare and Rural Hospitals
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY – Peter Chatzky, candidate for Congress in NY-17, blasted Congressman Mike Lawler for launching a five-figure digital ad campaign defending Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” a law that threatens hospitals, restricts healthcare programs, and rips healthcare away from millions of hardworking Americans.
“Mike Lawler is once again putting his allegiance to Donald Trump over the residents of the very district he represents.” stated Chatzky. “We need to establish Universal Healthcare for all, not strip Medicaid from hardworking Americans. There is no reason why members of Congress like Mike Lawler should have access to better healthcare than hardworking families across this district.”
New York’s hospitals, already under much financial pressure, will be forced to cut back staff and a wide range of services as a result of Lawler’s support of the bill. Fifteen million people will lose healthcare coverage as a result of the bill slashing Medicaid expenditures by $1 trillion.
Despite these devastating impacts, Lawler is spending up to $100,000 on digital ads promoting the bill, ironically dismissing Democratic criticism as “waging class warfare.” He accuses healthcare providers of lying and “parroting Democratic talking points”.
“Mike Lawler is a liar. Routing the benefits of legislation that demonstrably puts tens of thousands of New Yorkers at risk of losing their local hospitals and access to quality healthcare is dishonest, reckless, and cruel.” stated Chatzky. “Bottom line: al Americans deserve equal access to high quality healthcare.”
Peter Chatzky is an advocate for universal healthcare, and supports providing fundamental coverage to all as a preferred way of reducing insurance costs. He is running for Congress in NY-17 to defeat Mike Lawler next November.
